Crockpot Hamburger Steak
8 frozen hamburger patties
1 1/2 onions, cut in half, then sliced
4-5 cloves garlic, sliced
2-3 Tbsp hamburger seasoning
2-3 c beef stock
Salt & pepper to taste
3-4 Tbsp butter*
3-4 Tbsp AP flour*
Place onions in crockpot. Lay burger patties on top. Sprinkle sliced garlic & burger seasoning over the meat. Pour stock over all. Cook on high 4 hrs or low for 6 hrs.
Pull burger patties & onions out and place on a plate. Cover to keep warm. Put broth into measuring cup & let cool enough for fat to be skimmed off the top. **
Melt butter in skillet, add flour and cook on medium heat, stirring until desired color is reached. Lower heat to a simmer and whisk in broth. Once thickened, put burgers & onions in gravy and allow to simmer until hot.
*For gravy I used the 1-1-1 ratio. Amounts of butter & flour will vary depending on the amount of broth yielded.
**If you prefer a super smooth gravy, strain broth after skimming the fat. Don't forget to put the slices of garlic back in the gravy.
